Reading the Numbers
What the Standards Tell You
Track recruiting is not a simple qualifying-standard system. An athlete's mark is one piece of a larger evaluation that can change according to the recruiting class and event group.
Competitive Level
The closer an athlete is to the strongest end of a range, the more competitive the athletic profile generally becomes.
Roster Need
Recruiting demand can change according to graduating athletes, event depth and the priorities of a particular class.
Academics
Brown recruiting requires an academic profile capable of standing up within an exceptionally selective admissions environment.
Progression
Development over time, consistency and future upside can add important context to an athlete's current personal best.
Versatility
Athletes capable of helping across several events or relays may offer greater roster value than one result alone suggests.
Timing
A strong performance profile can become less valuable if an athlete enters the recruiting process after priority needs are filled.
